Optimizing government revenue from fishery and forestry sectors in Indonesia
Although Indonesia is a country with lots of forest and vast ocean, forestry and fishery sectors not significantly contribute to government revenue. This paper, try to explore problems in those sectors and try to come up with alternatives that can increase revenue from those sectors.
As there is limitation in optimizing revenue from forestry by cutting woods, utilizing non woods such as forest tourism is one of the option to increase revenue from this sector. As for fishery, there is indication of inefficiency loss due to the lack of competence of local government that collected the tax. Effort that can be done to resolve this problem is centralized the tax collecting system in this sector. This will increase the government revenue and after the local government level up their competence, the centralized tax collecting should be returned to them.
