The 23rd Pacific Conference of the Regional Science Association International
Faculty of Economics and Business, Padjadjaran University is hosting the 23rd Pacific Conference of the Regional Science Association International and the 4th Indonesian Regional Science Association Institute. The conference will be held on 2-4 July, 2013 at Savoy Homann hotel, Bandung, Indonesia.
The conference will be attended by around 250 participants from all over the world who will be presenting papers on various topics in the area of regional science. As this is a regular meeting of the international regional science community, around half of the 250 participants who are coming to Bandung are foreign participants from 21 countries in the Asia and the Pacific.
Regional science is a field of the social sciences concerned with analytical approaches to problems that are specifically urban, rural, or regional. In the broadest sense, any social science analysis that has a spatial dimension is embraced by regional scientists. The theme of this year’s conference is green growth and global recovery: a regional perspective. Keynote and plenary speakers in this conference are globally renowned scientists. Keynote speech will be delivered by Prof. Armida Alisjahbana, President of The Indonesian regional science association (IRSA). Plenary speakers include Prof. Peter Dixon of Monash University, Prof. Jichung Yang of Seoul National University, Prof. Piet Rietvield of VU University of Amsterdam, and Prof. Iwan Azis of Cornell University.
There will be as many as 70 parallel sessions held during the 3-days conference. This has made the conference one of the biggest international academic conferences in Indonesia.
Other than regular research paper presentations, the conference will also facilitate sponsored-special sessions as well as meet-the-editors sessions. In the meet-the-editors sessions, not less than 8 editors of prestigious international academic journals will be sharing knowledge on how to publish in their journals. The conference partners include Thomson Reuter, the host of the web-of-science a bibliographic database of high-ranking journals and publisher of the reputable Social Science Citation Index.
Center for Economics and Development Studies (CEDS), Padjadjaran University, is one of the partners of the conference. As many as 40 conference participants will be learning regional economic modeling in the 4th IRSA institute hosted by CEDS for 2 weeks as part of pre-conference event. Instructors for the training are CEDS researchers and modelers with years of experience in the economic modeling.
This conference is part of the activities of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Padjadjaran University in its endeavor to be globally recognized in the international academic community.
